چکیده
This paper discusses the regularity of multiple-valued Dirichlet minimizing maps into the sphere. It shows that even at branched point, as long as the normalized energy is small enough, we have the energy decay estimate. Combined with the previous work by Chun-Chi Lin, we get our first estimate that H(singular set) = 0. Furthermore, by looking at the tangent map and using dimension reduction argument, we show that the singular set is at least of codimension 3. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: Primary 49Q20 Department of mathematics, Rice University, Houston, TX 77005; [email protected] 1

Via gauge theory, we give a new proof of partial regularity for harmonic maps in dimensions m ≥ 3 into arbitrary targets. This proof avoids the use of adapted frames and permits to consider targets of ”minimal” C regularity. The proof we present moreover extends to a large class of elliptic systems of quadratic growth.

Exponentiating a power series can have the effect of smoothing out the behavior of the coefficients. In this paper we look at conditions on the growth of the coefficients of G(x) = ∑ g(n)x, where g(n) ≥ 0, which ensure that f(n−1)/f(n)→ ∞, where F(x) = e. Useful notation will be f(n) ≺ g(n) for f(n) eventually less than g(n) and f(n) ∈ RT∞ for f(n− 1)/f(n) → ∞; the notation RT stands for the ra...
